Default adding provider to IP phone that is part of the LVS

Hello,

I am trying to use one of the 4 lines available in one of the 3 SPA941's we have in our LVS. All SPA941 are connected to the SPA9000 (which also has a SPA3102 used to incorporate the PSTN line into the PBX). Everything works a beauty (thanks to the valued help of Humba3 and Warford58) but I cannot get the SPA941s to connect to an external provider (that is, not the SPA9000).

Basically, if I have all 4 lines of the SPA941 connect to the SPA9000 all works well. But the very moment I configure, say, line 4 of the SPA941 to connect to a VoIP provider directly (line enabled, provider's proxy address, user ID, password and Register set to Yes) and reboot, the phone will not be able to even negotiate a DNS with the SPA9000.
All I have to do to get everything to work again is disable Line 4 or not register with the VoIP provider.

I was under the impression that each SPA941 could use its 4 lines whichever way I wanted (expect Line 1 which is provisioned automatically). Am I wrong thinking I can use the SPA941s to connect directly to VoIP providers?

What's your say, and experience?

Thanks a lot,
regards
simanu

Post the phone's configuration..
I have this setup (though no 9x1 phones here.. I have no use for phones without PoE) working just fine for a long time (until I moved away to an Epygi PBX - now I have all outside lines on the PBX since I can have 99 instead of 4)

hey there,
can't post the config right now, I am away from the office for a few days...
I hoped there would be an option to select or activate on the pbx that I wasn't aware of...

What do you mean you can have 99 instead of 4? 99 lines???

Yes, the smallest Epygi Quadro model allows for 99 registered lines to make outside calls (and 8 or 16 IP phones depending on whether you buy the additional 8 phone license or not). And there's actually more for outbound calls. To call the outside world, you can define an infinite amount (well I suppose there's a limit but whatever it is, it is way beyond what anybody would need) of outgoing accounts - as long as your provider allows calls without registering (they can demand authentication though.. that works fine).

I'm sure it's just one or a few parameters, but considering how many there are, I doubt anybody could help you without looking at the phone's configuration. Also, does the same configuration work if you program it as one of the 4 lines on the spa9k (that should serve as a check for your basic settings.. if the account doesn't work anywhere, it's not a phone problem but your provider configuration being incorrect). If you cannot get it working, a trace from the appropriate line of the phone would also be useful.
