Default Way cool Linksys and Sipura compatible easy ENUM and peering

For anyone that does not yet know.....

Sipbroker.com is now offering ENUM resolution for your outbound calls, and peering to more netyworks than anyone else WITHOUT CHANGING YOUR PROVIDER! You do not even need to register for the service!

Sipbroker.com also offers more peering than I have seen anywhere else.

Sipbroker is a service that works in between your esisting service and your Sipura or Linksys. All you need to do is implement the dial plan.

Of course because e164.org is one of the 6 ENUM roots they are using, you may register your own DIDs at e164.org and anyone with a SIPBroker dial plan will connect to your sip device direct SIP to SIP when calling your DID.

Your post sounded like SIPBroker requires anyone to use a Sipura/Linksys ATA device in order to be eligible to use the service. Is it true? If not, perhaps you should change the title and re-wording your post.

No. As someone who has been helping out at SIP Broker for the last 2-3 weeks, I can confirm that SIP Broker doesn't limit their proxy to just Sipura/LinkSys devices.

However, I can also confirm that Sipura adapters are the type that the SIP Broker staff has the most experience with. As a result, SIP Broker support knows how to setup SIP Broker on a Sipura/LinkSys adapter. For other adapters (which they have less experience with), YMMV.

And since the Sipura devices have a more advanced "dial plan" than some other ATAs, the setup is often easier/cleaner with a Sipura, than it is with many adapters. So some adapters are a real pain to initially setup with SIP Broker...

Default sipbroker

I think Draco is following me, I thought something smelled funny!

Just joking.

I will say that the system at SIPBroker worked BEST with the Linksys and Sipura products, as the dial plan they have recommended for Linksys and Sipuras does a couple tricks that will not work on some other devices.

It's comments like that, which get my furry scales up! <BWG>

Seriously though. I have been hanging out here for a lot longer than I have been involved with SIP Broker. So it's not exactly a surprise that I noticed your post.

What surprises me is that markosjal hasn't yet noticed DracoFelis' excellent posting on this very subject.

Hi draco,

Thanks for the explanation. Just out of curiouscity, does one need a VoIP system to register his/her PSTN number to enum164 with any party, i.e. SIPBroker, Like2fone, etc.? What I try to find out is who pays the calls originated from VoIP systems to PSTN numbers registered to enum164.

Yes, you need a VoIP service in order to receive E.164 calls. Nobody pays for these calls because they never touch the PSTN. When you register with an ENUM registrar you are saying, "When any member tries calling my real phone number, +1-311-555-2368, please send it instead to my SIP URI, 12345@sip.myservice.com." Since the call is never delivered to the phone company there is no charge.

Default Does it work with SPA-2K series?

I don't know if this question belongs here, or in dial plan post, or in SipBroker forum - but it seems that the experts are frequenting all places, so it doesn't matter...

Does it work with SPA-2002? Specifically, the part of the dial plan that includes
Quote:
L:20,S:7,( [x*][x*]. <:@sipbroker.com>)
doesn't seem to get invoked. The calls still go through my primary VOIP provider (or don't go at all if the adapter doesn't register). Is it supposed to work? I saw a post here that says that @voipprovider.com only works with SPA3K, but DracoFelis's instruction list 2000's as well.

puzzled...

I've tested that part of the dial plan on my SPA-2000, and it worked. Since the SPA-2002 is just the newer release to the SPA-2000, it should work the same way.

i.e. that entry should try SIP Broker ENUM first (for normal VoIP calls), and then "auto-fallback" to your registered VoIP account if/when the ENUM lookup fails. And that entry should also allow you to dial any SIP Broker number, and have it go through. For example, dialing "*011 1 88888", should be routed to the SIP Broker test recording, and "*393 612" should give you the FWD time recording...

OTOH there are some other adapter settings (including "Outbound Proxy" if you have anything in that field) that can override what is in your dial plan. And dial plan setting are "position dependent" (i.e. if two settings in your dial plan both match, you will get the one to the left). I'll be glad to look for any such issues in your adapter setup, if you post your adapter settings.

i.e.
1) log into your adapter as "Advanced" "Admin Login"
2) Tell your browers to "save as" to file mysettings.htm
3) Upload the "mysettings.htm" file to either this forum, or the SIP Broker forum

Once the file is uploaded to a forum post (either here or on the SIP Broker forums), then we will be able to look over your setup, and see if we can find were the problem is!

NOTE: IMHO this question is probably "on topic" in either this forum or SIP Broker's forum. Its "on topic" in this forum (until/unless PhoneBoy says differently), as this is discussing a Sipura adapter setup issue. And it's clearly "on topic" in the SIP Broker support forums, as you are having problems with setting up your adapter with SIP Broker.
