| folks, i have a spa3102 that has been setup for a voip connection through stanaphone with a new york number. i am able to receive calls through this number only periodically. most of the times, the call goes through to voice mail. i am not sure as to what is causing this. is there some configuration setting that i need to change so that calls can be received. my setup is like this: PC <----------------> SMC7004VWBR <----------------> DSL Modem <---------> /|\ | | | \|/ SPA3102 everything has been setup correctly, with the spa3102 getting a static ip address (192.168.200.100) and it is being used in the bridge mode and also has the user id for the sip connections correctly set up. what happens is that once i register the sip phone then the call comes through for the first couple of times and after that i always get the voice mail. also, if i reboot the spa3102 then the calls come through for the first couple of times and then they go directly through to voice mail. i checked some of the obvious settings like the one under line 1 for nat settings nat mapping enable and nat keep alive enable and saw that there were no discrepancies which could cause this kind of a behavior. i am hoping that somebody can shed some light on what is happening that could be causing this behavior. thanks, Last edited by samarthk : December 18th, 2006 at 10:54 AM. |

| Hi, I was having a 'similar' problem to yourself, sometimes calls would go through the SPA via my PSTN-to-VoIP gateway and at other times it would be as though the SPA did not exist. I haven't yet managed to find out why this is, but a couple of things, bear in mind they're shots in the dark so... There is a setting in the SPA that controls how long the SPA waits to hang up the line after a call terminates. This could well mean that when a caller calls, hangs up and immediately calls again, the line could be engaged. Is your voicemail hosted on the PC or is it something offered by your VoIP provider - i.e you're calling into the SPA, then calling out again to the voicemail? Not sure from your post whether you want the phone connected to the SPA to ring before the transfer, and that this is not happening. Increase the PSTN/VoIP Answer Delay to compensate for this. Do your service providers impose a limit on how quickly you can re-connect to the service after a call? E.g, I know some have rules that state a caller must wait 5 minutes before they can connect again. As I said, I may well be way off themark here, in which case I'm sorry. Maybe I mis-understood the question, but if you do get this sorted, could you keep us posted - my problem as outlined above is in the same league as yours. Hussein. |

| hussein, you are not off the mark at all. instead of having a pstn line calling the voip number i have a cellular telephone calling the voip number. the voicemail is a service that is provided by the provider, i am not sure as to how it functions. also, once i get a call and then after some time i try the number again, the telephone on the voip end does not ring instead the call goes directly through to voicemail as if the voip device did not exist. if you know what setting is on the spa for changing the time from the instance when the call terminates please do let me know in the meanwhile i'll keep on trying other things. samarth |

| Sounds like Stanaphone is dropping the registration after a relatively short period of time. When you reboot you register again. Have you tried varying the Register Expires setting. I would try 60 and see what happens. |
