Exclamation SPA3000 3.1.18 new option -*RECOMMENDED*

After installing a new firmware (3.1.18) to my SPA3000, I discovered a new option at the very bottom of the "Regional" tab - "More Echo Suppression".
By default it is set to "No" after the upgrade. Since I have been fighting with echo from day one with not much luck, I changed it to "Yes".
I was astounded by the result! The echo is practically gone! I mean, I actually need to listen for it in order to detect any echo at all! Kudos to the developers for nailing it down!

I highly recommend setting this option to "Yes"!

Echo has been my only real problem (the unreal problem being the really slow and sometimes non-existent loading problem with the web interface).

But I am wondering: Is this intended for my SPA3000?

I have the original Sipura, not a Linksys-branded box. The Sipura support page has not been updated. No surprise there. But the Linksys page just shows a picture of a Linksys model with a selection for "Version 1.0" in a dropdown box. My Sipura has no "version" number.

I haven't tried updating yet; I just don't want to end up with a dead box.

I have the original Sipura SPA3000 also. Apart from having a different box, Linksys and Sipura are identical devices.

My Sipura SPA3000 shows a hardware version of "2.0.1(1809)". I was able to load the Linksys branded version 3.1.18(GW) firmware on to it.

No opinion yet as to how it helps/changes the perennial issue of echo. The the new firmware I went back to factory defaults for line impedance and gains just to see what the "out of the box" was. I will live with that for a while before tweaking things.

By the way: All my old settings from v2.0.13 that I was previously running were maintained when I upgraded to the 3.1.18 firmware (that surprised me).

This thread (New SPA-3K firmware - 3.1.18) will let you know where to get the updated firmware.

Incidentally, they're up to 3.1.20 now.
