Default SPA2102 problems

I'll try and explain as best I can my problem.
I have the linksys spa2102 phone adapter with router and the speedtouch585 wireless modem router

Problem is connecting the two to work great.
I can't have the speedtouch in bridge mood as the wireless won't work(senseless then) so in routed mode
In order to have ports open on the speedtouch I must connect it this way
wall phone jack to speedtouch>speedtouch>computer(via ethernet cord)
speedtouch>linksys via ethernet cord plugged into the internet slot.
Problem here is phone is not clear calling out, I can hear people clear but they get alot of crackling, dropped words.
Now in order to have the the phone work clearly connects this way
linksys>computer via ethernet slot...linksys to speedtouch via internet slot
wall phone jack>speedtouch
In this connection I lose all opens ports I use and speed
Phone is connected to linksy in both cases

Is there a way to open the ports on the linksys so it can except my settings...or is there a fix to the whole thing...
going nuts with it...

Default Re: SPA2102 problems

In the SPA3102, it's under Router and Application tab.

Post Re: SPA2102 problems

had a similar issue, except in my case I wanted to put the SPA2102 router behind my current WiFi router becuae the SPA2102 would not support VPN pass-thru

I tried to port forward thorough my current router to the SPA1202 sitting behind it but also could not get phone service to come up.

Finally I got all to work by a simple DMZ trick as follows

Modem -->SPA2102 in DMZ mode --->(WANPORT of Wi-Fi router)---->PC

You have to log into the SPA2102 to enable DMZ, Note: the VoiP service may change the router settings from the factory default and the managment login IP address for the SPA2102 is what your current router indicates for default gateway address in it's WAN status screen

Also the SPA2102 password may get changed by the VoiP service provider

user and admin is what my SPA2102 got changed to

You can leave you WiFi router's WAN router in DHCP mode and if you power cycle the SPA2102 the Wi-Fi router will be always end up getting the same IP address assigned to its WAN port by the SPA2102 which is also the IP address for the 2102's DMZ setting.

The SPA2102 then ends up acting like a cable between your current router and the modem. The firewall in your current router protects you from the internet as before. This time the phone service will come up because the SPA1202 is sitting right behind the modem as the Voip service provider intended it to be.

Note if you power cycle the SPA2102 it may get reconfigured by the VoIP service probider, you will have to log back in and reenable DMZ

Hope this helps yor situation
