In general, is there a reference for the "Caller Number Patterns" which control both Selective Call Forwarding and Distinctive Ring? More specifically: 1) Are wildcards supported? I.e. 973XXXXXXX will forward all calls from 973 area code 2) Is there a NOT operator? I.e. !(8005551212) will forward all calls EXCEPT calls from 800-555-1212. Thanks. - ben

That's great - now is there a syntax reference for the call patterns? What is the wildcard and "not" syntax, exactly? While I'm at it, how exactly does the SPA do the forwarding? Is it a SIP REDIRECT? Thanks! - ben

Correction: All caller-id patterns can only use the wild card * and ?, * being any number of digits and ? any single digit. Examples: 1408*,1408999123?,1408*001. The syntax !(1234) is NOT supported. VoIP to VoIP call forward is by sending 301 response to INVITE. VoIP-to-PSTN and PSTN-to-VoIP call "forward" are handled internally in the SPA3000.

Argh. Oh well back to the drawing board. Maybe you can help me out... I want to forward all inbound calls first to another service - a sort of find/follow service - which then, in turn, may forward back to the same number. Obviously this would cause an "infinite loop" of forwards, so I need to let the second forward through. Since this second call would have unique callerid, I was going to forward all BUT from that number. But without a NOT operator that isn't possible. I know the SPA has a "Max Forwards" setting to prevent infinite loops, but doesn't seem to solve the problem. There must be SOME combination of service provider + SPA hardware functions to solve this problem. Is there some sort of "internal forward" SIP address, so I can forward the second call "internally" - essentially not forwarding it but excluding that number from the "forward all"? The only solution I know of for sure is VoicePulse "Filters". But for other reasons I've been avoiding VP. So a more generic solution would be great. Thanks.
