Default spa-3k gateway & answering machine

Is there a way for someone to leave a message on my answering machine which is attached to the phone port? Currently, the gateway answers all the incoming call within 10s and I would like to keep it that way. What I'm trying to achieve is to provide an option for myself to use my VOIP and at the same time to allow my friends leave a message when I'm not home. Thanks.

kendfw:

I guess it is not posible. If your answering machine answer first your gateway will not work. If your gateway answer first your answering machine will not work. You have to choose what is most important to you and give priority to that option.
