SPA-3102: Incoming VOIP OK, no VOIP or PSTN out (Egypt)
Hi,
So I received my SPA-3102, upgraded firmware to 5.1.5(GWa) and after reading all the stickies & posts I tried to configure it, but no luck. I'm living in Egypt.
I have Line 1 set up for Voxalot, which in turn connects to SipGate for an incoming UK number - this all works fine.
I have Gateway 1 set up for sip.poivy.com (can't use Voxalot for this provider as Betamax have just blocked Voxalot... damn)
And I have PSTN line enabled (I think)
I then have this dial plan to enable me to choose between gw1 and PSTN:
(<#1,:>xx.<:@gw1>|<#9,:>xx .<:@gw0>|<#9,:>*xx<:@gw0>)
The problem is, neither the outgoing VOIP via Poivy, the incoming PSTN, or the outgoing PSTN seem to work - I just get what sounds like a busy signal. I've tried different DTMF signalling methods, and changed the FXO Port Impedance to Global, and the Disconnect tone to 450@-30,450@-30;4(.25/.25/1+2) as recommended in the sticky, played around with different dial-plans.... but still no luck. At no point does the PSTN light come on. If I switch off power to the unit, I can make PSTN calls directly with my DECT phone which is plugged into the SPA-3102.
I tried to upload screenshots of my setup, but am unable to squeeze the settings pages into the forum upload file size limits.
If I can get it all working, what I want is all normally dialled calls to go via gw1 Poivy, with user-selected PSTN dial out using #9. I don't need emergency services, local numbers or anything else complicated. I also don't need any gateway functions, I just want to dial out on VOIP or the PSTN from the phone handset.
Thanks for any help you can give....
Ben

Re: SPA-3102: Incoming VOIP OK, no VOIP or PSTN out (Egypt)
1. I signed up with poivy.com just to test your setting. To fix your @gw1 calling problem, you have to prefix sip.poivy.com with your username, so it should look like this username@sip.poivy.com. I tried this and it worked with my device. You may want to also set GW1 NAT mapping enable to 'yes'. To dial out using @gw1, I'm assuming you dial #1 first, then the number you want to call.
2. (<#1,:>xx.<:@gw1>|<#9,:>xx .<:@gw0>|<#9,:>*xx<:@gw0>)
I still don't know why your @gw0 calls do not work after removing the 'space' between 'xx' and the '.' in your dial plan. To dial out using @gw0 to make normal landline calls, dial #9 then the number in Egypt.
The dial string <#9,:>*xx<:@gw0> in your dial plan will not serve any purpose. The '*' is normally used for querying or setting the SPA3102 device parameters.
3. Regarding only having 3 lights on the device, this is OK since you are not registering your PSTN line gateway with any VOIP provider.
4. >The problem is, neither the outgoing VOIP via Poivy, the incoming PSTN, or the outgoing PSTN seem to work - I just get what sounds like a busy signal. SPA3102 factory default settings are OK for Egypt (except for the dial plan and the disconnect tone). When I first got my device, I was also having a lot of problems and spent 2 weeks to sort things out by reading the forum here, and also thought the problems were Egypt related.
Try these and let me know.
Best Regards,

Re: SPA-3102: Incoming VOIP OK, no VOIP or PSTN out (Egypt)
Hi,
Thanks for the help... It seems that my problems weren't Egypt-specific as I'd thought, and have simpler explanations.
Regarding outbound VOIP calls.... I feel a bit stupid, but it appears that my poivy account itself isn't working (too many minutes used or something) as I tried it on a softphone from another location and it didn't work on that either. Just fyi I was previously using "username" not "username@sip.poivy.com" successfully, so I don't think it is that (I tried just in case). I'm going to sign up with another VOIP provider and test it later.
Regarding outbound PSTN calls.... after much tweaking last night I finally got it to work, it turns out I needed the "One Stage Dialing:" on the PSTN tab set to "YES" instead of "NO". After that it worked. I still don't quite understand this function, at least for how I am using it - i.e. handset to PSTN, no gateway functions.
After deleting the unnecessary part as suggested, I'm trying out this dial plan:
(xx.|<#1,:>xx.<:@gw1>|<#9,:>xx .<:@gw0>)
Which should (I think) route straight-dialled calls over Line1 provider, #1 routes over gw1 provider, and #9 routes over PSTN. Once I have it all working I'll come up with something better, but for the moment this let's me test the different methods easily.
One question though - I dial #9 then get a new dialtone then dial a number and press # and it dials out on the PSTN. I am using a Panasonic DECT cordless phone for this... and what I want is it to work like this: #9 gives new PSTN dialtone, then any subsequent numbers are sent *straight* to the PSTN (like a normal telephone) so I don't have to hit the # key at the end - is there a way to do this? Same with outbound VOIP...
Thanks again, best wishes,
Ben
