Default SPA 2102 Installation

I have just installed my SPA 2102, allappropriate lights seems to be on. I can't get a dial tone on my phone, just a crackling noise. I have already been on to my voip tech support about this and after 45mins of plugging and unplugging, they sent me another adapter ( same model) diferent installation manuel. This manual gives an Ip address 192.168.0.1/admin/advance , for non configured adapters????..... I tried opening this up in my browser, but to no avail.....any suggestions anyone??
Ursula

Likely you don't have the thing setup. You will only get a "dial tone" if/when you are either:

1) Registered with a VoIP service provider (which requires the adapter to be properly setup and configured for your chosen service provider).

or 2) You have the setting "Make Call Without Reg:" set to "yes".

NOTE:
Neither of these are set "by default". So YOU have to configure the adapter first (unless you got the adapter from some other service provider that has pre-configured it for you)!!!

Did you make sure that you plugged your PC into the LAN side of the adapter (so that you can get to the config menu)? Is the PC setup on the same subnet (so that it's even addressable from the PC)?

For that matter, did you even ask the adapter what IP address it thought it was? i.e. did you follow this procedure:

1) Pick up the phone that is attached to the adapter.

2) Rapidly press **** (i.e. the *-key 4 times in rapid succession).

3) At this point you should hear a voice prompt telling you that you are in the configuration menu.

4) From the configuration menu, press 110# (1, 1, zero, pound key). The menu should read out the adapter's IP address to you over your phone.

5) Hang up, and use that IP address (from a PC connected to the LAN side of the adapter) to reach the web interface...

I have done all that... I now have a dial tone, but when I dial out, I can't hear the # RINGING, but it does ring ( I called my cell).... when I call my voip # it doesn't ring, it goes directly to v/m.... I do have a voip provider... I have emailed them yet again to see i they can throw any light.... my phone is brand new.... it seems that this particular adapter has been a problem for a lot of users... I googled SPA installation problems, and got a load o similer situations.
