Default spa-2100 static

I have a broadvoice provided spa-2100 device for about 2 weeks. From day 1 the line quality sucked. It has static on the line and sometimes the tone when dialing each number changes, along with the dial tone. I called them up (their support guys are clueless) and I said maybe its my device lets try port 2. That seemed to work while on the phone with the tech but the next day it didnt work. I have optimum online as my provider and my speeds are fine. I have all the ports forwarded and I still have static.

Does anyone have any solutions or any ideas?

Thanks in advance[/i]

What device are you using for your SOHO router? Are you using the SPA-2100 or some other router? If the SPA is behind your other router, was it refusing to Register before you forwarded ports? Is this why you forwarded ports (in about 98% of all installations this is not indicated)?

Have you visited www.testmyvoip.com yet? What does that site say about the voice quality you might expect from your network environment?

Modem -> Dlink 524 -> SPA 2100. It works fine without port forwarding but the guy said I MUST do it in order for it to work.

I got a 4.3/5 on the voiptest.

I have also tried connecting the modem directly to the SPA without the router and still static.

Connecting your BV-provided SPA-2100 directly to the internet is the purest configuration, and one that BV should be able to deal with.

For one thing, the nonsense about forwarding ports becomes moot, since their device is now connected directly.

I recommend that you ring up BV Customer Service while using this configuration and ask them to help. With none of your own equipment in the mix (your D-Link router), it should be easier for them to troubleshoot your quality problems.
