Default SPA-2100 & outbound CID #

I have my SPA-2100 set up on a temporary test line with a new VoIP provider. I'd like to really put the line 'to the test' by forwarding my main number to the test line and make all outgoing calls from the test line. The problem with that plan is that outbound calls would be sent with the test number's CID, confusing the people I call.

I've discovered that I can have my outbound calls send any CID# I want if I put the "desired" outbound CID# in the "User ID" field, provided I set the "Use Auth ID" option to Yes and put my assigned (temporary line) DID# in the Auth ID field. Unfortunately, when I put anything OTHER THAN my assigned temporary DID# into the User field, incoming calls appear to either be rejected by my adapter (ie. as if DND is enabled, which it is not) or they simply fail, as if my adapter is not registered (the adapter shows 'Registered', however).

Is there a setting I can change in my adapter to get it to ignore any difference between the "User" and "Auth ID" fields, or is this an issue my service provider would need to address?
