Default SPA-2100: Cannot Configure using web interface

Hey All,

I'm having problems accessing the web configuration page of my new SPA-2100 which I've just received from Voxilla.

I was running firmware 2.0.4c, but because of the echo problems I was experiencing upgraded to 2.0.5a. As I do with most other devices after a firmware upgrade I reset the unit to factory defaults using the IVR.

However, I can no longer access the Web Configuration Page. This is what I've tried:

1. Connect WAN of 2100 to router.

2100 gets an IP which I can ping if I am connected to the same router. However, the web configuration page cannot be accessed. If I try telnetting to port 80 I get this:

telnet: connect to address 192.168.3.120: Connection refused.

2. Connect WAN of 2100 to router and try to configure 2100 through LAN Port using laptop.

My laptop gets an IP of 192.168.0.2, but I can't ping 192.168.0.1 or access the web configuration. All requests to 192.168.0.1 time out.

Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Phil.

PS: Just to add that during this the device still works fine as a router, either directly behind my cable modem, or behind my old router (and my laptop connected to the lan port of the 2100).

Default RE: SPA-2100: Cannot Configure using web interface

There is a function using the IVR to turn on the web server but don't remember it off the top of my head. I'd do that and also check which port# it thinks it's on, as well as verify the IP#/mask etc etc.

[<rant> someplace somebody ought to plainly document all of these settings, specifically including details related to the new 1001s and the new 2100s. </rant>]

I thought about that when I upgraded to 2.0.5(a) and decided *not* to do a reset. The first 1001 I had got totally screwed up, I think becuase of doing a factory reset and I'm shy of those now with Sipura).

I don't have anything on the LAN side and use the WAN side webserver to configure. I've changed to a different port and assigned a reasonable password as well and it's exposed to the world on its own routable static IP#. So far no problems.

Good luck,
- Don

Default RE: SPA-2100: Cannot Configure using web interface

cayman,

I *completely* agree regarding the documentation of the 2100, and from what you and other people say the 1001 and 841 too. I was only able to configure the 2100 because I'd used a 2000 in the past. Sipura need to release any documentation that exists to help people who are buying these devices.

Anyway, rants aside I decided to try connecting to the Lan port again, which still didn't work. I saw my flatmate's laptop on the floor and decided to try using her's instead. Plugged it into the lan port, got an IP and navigated straight into the web interface! Weird...

Thanks for your suggestions.

Phil.

Phil, it could be that your computer's ethernet card has trouble negotiating speed and duplex with the SPA's LAN port. Your roommate's laptop was able to conclude this negotiation and allowed you access.

What worked for me was completely disabling my software (Norton) firewall temporarily, then typing in the SPA IP address as URL (without the http://)...connected instantly.

My connections to computer & router were as recommended, not SPA---> computer Ethernet, but SPA---> router LAN via Ethernet. (SPA 3000)

Also made sure DHCP was enabled through IVR.

good luck
