Default SPA-1001 oddity with panasonic cordless phone

I purchased an SPA-1001 from Voxilla to replace an SPA-2000. I now find that my Panasonic cordless phone will not grab the line any more from the base station (i.e., it can't either get a dialtone or answer a call). Oddly enough, the unit works absolutely fine via the handset. There are no SIP issues -- registration works fine. This is some kind of hardware issue.

Firmware is 3.1.8(SEc). Settings are via Voxilla wizard for Broadvoice on Line 1, Line 2 currently not used. Location is U.S. I have tried power-cycling both the ATA and the cordless phone after the upgrade.

Are there any odd polarities or voltages that should be adjusted for the SPA-1001's FXS port that might explain the base station not picking up when the handset will?

Any ideas would be appreciated and I will report back on solutions. Thank you.

Default tentative conclusion

substituting back the original spa-2000 and finding no resolution of the symptom, I am tending to the conclusion that in making the change I sent a transient voltage (static shock, maybe?) that burned out the Panasonic base station keypad but left other circuits undamaged. i am inclined to think this not a Sipura issue after all, but if you have a suggestion still please feel free to make it.

Default RE: tentative conclusion

I would agree with that assessment. Since both the base station and any slave handset use the same FXO interface in the bottom of the base station to talk with the SPA, that FXO interface is apparently healthy (and, so are your SPAs).
