Default Sipura SPA-3102 FXS to FXO Problem

I am trying to use my phone line by dialing 9 and the number (See my dial plan below). After 9, i get a different dial tone and when i dial the number, it seems to drop the (1) (ARECODE) and i get a message from the phone company to use 1+areacode to dial.
Btw, I can dial my second line which doesn't require the areacode.

I have played around with PSTN Dial Digit Len and PSTN Dialing Delay. Still no go?

My Dial Plan is:
(<9,:>xx.<:@gw0>|*xx|[3469]11|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks good from here. However, I do know that LinkSys/Sipura ATAs can sometimes have trouble with variable length patterns (patterns ending in an period, such as you use with your "outside line" pattern). With some firmware versions, I've found that variable length patterns sometimes fail to dial correctly, unless you end them with the #-key (to tell the ATA you are done dialing).

Are you only trying to dial USA 7-digit and 11-digit (and maybe 911) via the PSTN line? If so, I would recommend making the dial plan more explicit, so as to avoid the variable length patterns. Maybe something like the following would work better (for the PSTN line portion of your dial plan)?

911S0 <:@gw0> | <9,:>911S0 <:@gw0> | <9,:>[2-9]xxxxxxS0 <:@gw0> | <9,:>1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0 <:@gw0>

Another update: I took my SPA to my brother's home who has SBC phone service. It works perfectly there..
Maybe my phone service (RCN) needs SPA to dial slowly!!

I will also try to change my dial plan to be more explicit. Thanks.

You have more problems than DracoFelis pointed out, though he fixed the problem without specifically telling you. You have several ambiguities in your Dial Plan that are causing confusion inside your SPA. You have three different Dial Plan elements with 9 as the initial digit (four, if you count your catch-all xxxxxxxxx at the end). That's two more (three more) than are acceptable in a properly crafted Dial Plan.

This kind of ambiguity is why you have read in just about every post here dealing with the SPA3000 that people generally tend to use # as the "force path" key instead of a digit. When # is the very first digit dialed it will not be treated as an end-of-dialing command.

Even if I change my dial plan to to something like this
<#9,:>1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0 <:@gw0> I still get the message from the phone company to dial 1+areacode?
As I said earlier, I took my SPA to my brother's home where his PSTN line was SBC and everything worked..

On the PSTN Line page, try lengthening the PSTN Dialing Delay by a second. It is most likely set at 1 now, so up it to 2. This will give your phone company 2 seconds to get its act together before your SPA starts dialing out, which should allow the phone company to receive all of your dialed digits, including the leading "1".

Thats the first thing I tried...I've tried from 2 to 10. Still doesn't work...I think I might have to change my PSTN provider or get rid of 3102.

Ok..I figure it out myself...

Here is the problem and the solution.

P: With SPA-3102 going thru the Line1 (FXS) to PSTN(FXO) (ala gw0), digits(1+arecode) get dropped by the PSTN line.

S: Go to the Voice -> Regional -> DTMF Playback Level. Change that to -10. The default here is -16.
