Default Sipura and ISDN - Anybody made it?

I have an ISDN service and I am trying to set up my Sipura to work. My ISDN modem is an Intracom NT1.

1) Connection sharing is an option, but would like to use a router instead.
I have tried this configuration but using a softphone (i.e. X-lite) but the quality is not that great. It can not receive phone calls either.

Has anybody had any success working with ISDN and Sipura? I am willing to work with any Sipura that can work, from the 1000 series to the 3000.

I will appreciate any input.

Thanks,

guiri

I suggest you try different codecs as a sigle ISDN channel is 64 Kbits/ second and the G711 codecs are also designed for 64 Kbits/s. Once you add the IP and SIP overheads it will not quite fit.

The other codecs are more efficient.

G711 64 Kbits/s
G726 32 Kbits/s
G729 8 Kbits/s
G723 6.4 Kbits/s

It should be noted that you do not get a free lunch.

The lower the bit rate the greater the delay and voice quality will be more like a mobile.

If you are using X-Lite. You can click on the codecs on the bottom of the virtual display and grey out the codecs you do not want to use and force the call to use an individual codec.

This may not work, in all cases, as each device only supports certain codecs.

I suggest you have a play.
