Default Sipura 2100 Dial Plan Assistance

I created two dial plans on my Sipura.

For BroadVoice on port 1 its:
( [2-9]xx xxxx|xx.|*xx.|**xx.|#xx.)

For FreeWorldDialup on port 2 its:
(<:*>1xxxxxxxxxx|xx.|*xx.|**xx.|#xx.)

The FWD plan allows me to dial outside (800), etc., numbers with no * needed, which their service requires.

The BroadVoice dial plan dials 1-818 in front if I just dial seven digits, thus creates seven digit dialing for my local area code.

One thing I can't figure out, is if I dial 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX or XXX-XXXX on the BroadVoice port, the TA still waits six seconds to see if another digit is coming, unless I press a #. Any way on such calls for the call to start completing, as soon as it recognizes it's an eleven digit or seven digit number? Forgetting the 1 before XXX-XXX-XXXX also works on BroadVoice, but I am unsure if I could speed that up without pressing the #. I don't want to mess up other numbers I may call, like an international call.

Also, I'm trying to figure out how to dial a FWD number from my BroadVoice dial plan. I've read a suggestion that looks like:

That's supposed to dial "987654" on FWD by dialing 111# on my phone. I can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

Your dial plan on Line 1 (BroadVoice) should be something like:

([2-9]xxxxxx|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|411|011xx.|*xx.|#xx.)

If you want to call FWD numbers from your BV line you need to add a Dial Plan element to do that. Three weeks ago I recommended <10:>[x*][x*]x.<:@fwd.pulver.com> to another person who asked the same question. You just dial 10-FWDnumber-# and the call will be routed to FWD. The 10 prefix was chosen because it does not conflict with any other combination permitted or expected by BV.

Good luck.

Thanks mberlant,
Tried it, but get a message that "the number I dialed is not in service." Could it be that BroadVoice doesn't support this?

PhoneBoy,
Could you explain what your Dial Plan does? I'm new at this.

My dial plan permits (in order) 7-digit dialing, 11-digit dialing (1+number), 411 (I think they have 411), international calling 011, *xx codes, and BV's speeddial #xx#.

If you got a message like that it must have come from BV. That means that somehow the call didn't go in FWD's direction. I use the exact same Dial Plan element here and it works fine. As far as I know, sending something out by "@somehost.xxx" does not touch the service provider you are registered with.

Although it is not very clear, you must put a # after the number, or it won't go through. So, to call FWD's time server you would dial 10-612-#. To call Jeff Pulver you would dial 10-10000-#.

Please check for typos, make sure the # is at the end, and let us know if it still won't go through.

Cheers.

Here's my dial plan:

(<10:>[x*][x*]x.<:@fwd.pulver.com>|<:1818> [2-9]xxxxxx|xx.|*xx.|**xx.|#xx.)

Thanks,
I tried it again.
Now it worked a couple of times, then stopped. I can't figure out why, since I didn't change anything.

Also, when it does work, I can hear who's on FWD, but they can't hear me.

First, the Dial Plan. You have an ambiguity in the Dial Plan that might be causing you trouble. xx. is a catchall that conflicts with both your FWD and 7-digit Valley dialing. I recommend that you make the following changes, which will also give you the benefit of not needing to wait for a timeout after the 7th digit of a local number.

(<10:>[x*][x*]x.<:@fwd.pulver.com>|<:1818>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011[2-9]xxxxx.|*xx.|**xx.|#xx.)

The S0 at the end of the 7-digit and 11-digit elements tell the element to process immediately after receiving the 7th and 11th digit, respectively, from you. The fourth element covers international dialing.

As far as your audio problem when calling FWD users, that seems strange. I assume, of course, that your Line 2 FWD service works fine. Does it?

mberlant:

Here's my latest Valley dial plan:

(<10:>[x*][x*]x.<:@fwd.pulver.com>|<911:18187342223>|<311:121397 83231>|<411:18005558355>|<:1818>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011[2-9]xxxxx.|*xx.|**xx.|#xx.)

The 911 number is an LAPD number, but not true 911.
The 311 number is the actual number calls go to when one dials 311 in L.A.
The 411 number is "Tell Me," just to avoid Broadvoice's pay-per-call 411.

Things are OK, except I still can't hear who's on the other end on the FWD calls. When I call using those (360) IPKALL numbers, or directly from my Line 2 FWD, it's OK. So this is a mystery. I have my SPA-2100 plugged into a plain old 4-port Linksys router, but don't get this problem on anything else in my set-up.
