Default Reset Sipura 3000 to factory default busy signal

Hello Sipura Users,

This is my second SPA3000.

Scenario
I had to turn off my home LAN. I have connected to the cable modem a Sipura 2100 which goes to the router (Linksys 4 ports/wireless) to 3 computers wired and one port is for my SPA 3000. Before turning off the system my SPA 3000 was working well. No problem.
After reconnecting back all the devices I was unable to use the SPA 3000. I was getting a busy signal. My SPA2100 works fine, my internet connection also is fine.
I had a free provider set in the SPA 3000. I decided to reset the unit using the 73738 (Factory reset unit) command from the phone dialpad. It did reset it according to the outgoing voice message. I noticed that after the SPA 3000 resets itself, the Status light blinks and then is off.

Results
I picked up the handset and I got a busy signal (I am still in Factory default setting).

This behavior does not seem correct. It is my experience that if I reset the unit to factory default there is no sound after picking up the handset.
I used the Recovery tool. My firmware was up to date but if I choose the Recover firmware option I got a Failed Recovery message.
Basically I am unable to use this unit. I just used it for two weeks!

If someone could give me some feedback on this issue I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Ron

Default RE: Reset Sipura 3000 to factory default busy signal

What does your Info page say as far as the status and configuration of the SPA3000? Is Line 1's programming truly blank after the factory reset? Perhaps you could post the current configuration of your SPA-3000, even if it is empty. There still will be some hints there as to what is going wrong.

Default RE: Reset Sipura 3000 to factory default busy signal

Hi mberlant, in addition to my previous message I tried to connect the SPA3000 to the SPA 2100 and I got a busy signal. I also tried the SPA3000 disconnected from the router and I got the same busy tone. The unit seems unable to reset itself. Line 1 has Line enable - Yes - Sip port 5060 and all the rest seems yy default settings (see attached screenshot). If I place Line Enable - No - there is not tone.

I already sent an email to Sipura support. Maybe I got another defective device

Here is the info regarding the System Status -->

Do you have any service provider programmed into Line 1? Your screenshot (which doesn't really show enough to help) doesn't indicate any.

hello mberlant,

the screenshot shows you the setting status after using the keypad command 73738 (Factory default reset). There is no more than that. The unit at handset gives a busy tone. I am unable to reset it. I believe that the unit is defective. I am in contact with the Sipura tech support also. Let's see if they have some troubleshooting "trick" to get this unit to work.

thx

ron

Resolution problem
Sipura Tech Support suggested to change the following setting ->
- set "Make Call w/o reg" to yes
After implementing this change I did get a diatone and I was able to use my VoIP service.

Question
I read from the Sipura User Guide that changing this configuration to Yes allows dialtone in spite of registration is successfull. Is my interpretation correct? I am also wondering why I did not have this problem just a few days ago... and I had this value set as per default to No.

Any feedback on this?

Thx.

Ron
