Default Problem with an SPA3000

Please excuse me if this turns out to be a real newbie question, but I am ... well ... a newbie

I have recently taken over looking after a customer who in addition to all their other IT infrastructure uses VoIP. Unfortunately I have no prior experience in VoIP and so of course this is the bit that starts playing up as soon as I take over.

The site has one Polycom phone, a bunch of D-Links and one SPA3000. Right at the moment the SPA3000 can talk to anyone on the D-Links but not to the Polycom or to the outside line. Currently the SPA and the D-Links are configured to prefer 729A and the Polycom to prefer 729AB. The D-Links and the Polycom have 711A set as their second preference for codec. There is no option for a second preference on the SPA, but the option "Use Pref Codec Only" is set to "no". If I change the SPA to prefer 711A then it can talk to the Polycom and the ouitside line BUT NOT the D-Links.

Can anyone make any helpful suggestions here?
