Default Grandstream HandyTone 496 vs Linksys SPA 2102

Linksys SPA942 Linksys SPA942
Stylish and sturdy 2- or 4-line business IP phone with 2 RJ-45s and Power Over Ethernet.
Price: $149.95
I was planning to buy a Linksys SPA 2102 as I am a Linksys guy. When shopping I found Grandstream HandyTone 496 at a very competitive price. I believe the Grandstream 496 is comparable to the SPA 2102. Has anyone performed a comparison between the two models? Are they truly comparable for one is better/durable/reliable than the other?

I heard (and I may be mistaken) that Grandstream in general not as reliable as the Linksys. Is this true?

Get the linksys spa2102-na i haven't messed with the grandstream but since linksys is the leader in voip and the fact that they continuously update there firmware i'd spend the extra bit of money for the linksys and have the peace of mind. i have 2 spa2102-na's and i love them. I also have 2 pap2t-na's and the spa series are far the best. I heard of plenty of problems of the grandstream such as there slow for firmware updates the device feels cheap as of the cheap plastic it's made of and isn't nearly as reliable as the spa2102. Plus there are alot of advantages of a spa2102 and higher versions of this device line, such as you can encrypt your phone calls for privacy (although it as to be with another sipura user) but the option is available. Tons of extra tweaks and higher voice quality. Yep i'd say there's a big difference. oh and the fact i never had any down times with mine except when doing a firmware upgrade. There tons more support on the sipura line also. hope this helps!!
