Is your SPA-2000 configured to use G.711? Faxing will only work if you are using G.711, other protocols won't work with fax.

Go to the Regional tab on your Admin server and change Ring Voltage to 90 and Ring Frequency to 20. These are the settings on the public network, and any equipment maker who follows the protocol precisely will not tolerate much deviation from these values.

I also have this problem with some auto-answering devices. And 20 Hz @ 90 VAC is nominal (actually 103 VAC on my PSTN). However, even when I've tried this fix (seting 90 as ring voltage, ring freq. to 20) I do get 20 Hz but at 56 VAC and auto-answer still doesn't work. Moreover, the tone itself is different - it's definitely not a standard ring signal (N.B. - this is a ring waveform, not a tone). I need to get a scope hooked up to give a more exact answer; but there is clearly something funky going on here. As an example, even when the circuit is unused, there is still some CallerID signalling being sent - basically, this is a bug in the 2.0.10(GWd) firmware - gosh, I hope it's not the hardware.

I'll try to give a more informative post in the next few days.

Patience is a virtue,

Patrick

I left the voltage at 70 and frequency @-10 (default settings)
But I changed the Ring Waveform: to Trapezoid and it did work form me.

My answering machine works now.

Joseph:

You got it. I had to change all three (trapezoidal, 90 VAC and frequency @ 20 Hz) to get auto-answer to work. I still have to tune settings to get PSTN to Line 1 disconnect detected properly - VOIP1 to Line1 works fine.
