| Beyond that, the only way I can conceive of using a dial-up modem with a network device like an ATA or IP phone is to configure Internet Connection Sharing in Windows and plug the phone device into the computer's network port (you might need a 10/100 Switch or the right sort of cable too). I'd really test a phone like X-lite (using GSM or iLBC) or SJPhone (using G723.1) first on his computer with only low-bitrate codecs enabled to see if VOIP even works well-enough for you to talk. |
