Default Bad sound quality PSTN call

Linksys WIP330 WiFi Phone SALE Linksys WIP330 WiFi iPhone
The most powerful IP WiFi phone available, includes web browser and allows closed "hot-spot" use.
Price: $228.95
When people call me on my PSTN number the sound quality is very bad. This only happens when we are trying to speak at the same time. The sound of the person on the other side is completely lost. I don't hear parts of what they are saying. If I stop talking the sound is ok again.
Already tried to adjust some jitter setting but without luck.
Calls that I make to PSTN do have a perfect sound quality. I don't know what to change ...........................

I still love my SPA3000

Default RE: Bad sound quality PSTN call

My Panasonic 5.8 GHz digital cordless phone supresses the other side's audio whenever you speak, so for ages I was using SipBroker to test my settings and voice quality (using *393613#) on my GE corded phone but when I purchased the Panasonic, I discovered the same echo test wouldn't work anymore using that particular phone. (It is not a bug, it is a 'feature'.) I am not sure if you checked that but is that a potential problem? On my setup that is the only sort of thing that has happened to me that has caused what you are describing.

Perhaps you could toy aroudn with the echo cancelation on your SPA. I heard it's a bit limited.

I had to change silence sup. to NO. This cured my problem.

Play around with echo and silence settings... This may be your problem...

1 other problem I had was a corrupt config file... (I only had 1way audio) I reloaded it with the wizzard and all was OK after that.

I've having this exact same problem using my SPA-2100. The problem is that my adapter was provisioned by Earthlink and they won't let me log into it as an admin to change settings like echo or silence supp. . They've locked me out of so many options to "idiot proof" it that it's rediculous. I've had their support team going nuts over the problem for 2 days straight, constantly on the phone with tech support but no one there will give me admin rights to the adaptor to change anything. They assume I have no idea what I'm talking about. Any suggestions?(besides dropping Earthlink, lol)

kaylielise, the original poster was having this problem on his FXO port on his SPA3000 (at least for incoming calls). The SPA-3000 is known for being very persnickety when it comes to optimally configuring the FXO port (i.e. the PSTN port) to not do anything weird or annoying. But you are saying your problem is with the FXS port on a SPA-2100. So unfortunately your problem is probably not solved the same way since it wouldn't exactly be the same problem or same setting even if we figured out how to cure his woes.

But to boot, you have no settings on the user login. I have a SPA-2100 myself and I am looking at what things you have under User - Advanced, and it laughable. You just have User 1 User 2 tabs to tweak and there is nothing useful for phone quality under those. The 'meaty' settings are under SIP, Regional, Line 1 and Line 2 which are only configurable in the Admin login. If Earthlink can't resolve your problem on their end, and you can't get into the Admin options, then it is pretty clear you're forced to make the move to a new VOIP provider with a BYOD policy (assuming your SPA-2100 is unlocked).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to cancel my service with earthlink. Their support team has been absolutely terrible and hasn't fixed my problem, nor will they allow me to change any admin settings. 7 out of the 9 support people I talked to didn't even know that there were admin settings. They didn't seem at all qualified to handle advanced problems. I must have been told to reboot my spa about 25 times today. After being in chat support for 8 hours and phone support for 4 hours (until my cordless phone died from being on hold for too long - not kidding) I am completely fed up with them. I would like to use their service but if they can't get my calls to work properly, I have no other choice. Sorry for ranting; I'm frustrated. Thank you ctylor for your help.
