Unhappy 3102 is not getting IP from DHCP server

I've had SPA-3102 for a little over a month in my parents' house, and it was working fine. Suddenly, it stopped getting IP address from the cable modem; and both their computer and phone stopped working.

I see that the "power" light keeps blinking for several minutes, then it looks like it's rebooting and starts trying again.

I can get into SPA both via IVR and through the web. The IP on the WAN side is 0.0.0.0 (not surprising). They have only one computer, and no other router. When I plug the computer directly into the cable modem, it works fine (I am connecting this way right now). I did reset through IVR (73738); all settings are indeed back as when it was - however, the IP is not renewed.

Anything else I can try, or is it sudden hardware death syndrome?

Why not just give it a static IP address and be done with it?

You typically want equipment like this to have a known static IP anyway.

Sorry, forgot to mention it: didn't make any difference. That is, still can't get out to the internet.

I don't think ISP supports setting static IP on the router... maybe I am wrong. In any event, I set up the IP/netmask/etc. to be whatever my computer gets dynamically (as I said, the computer has no problem obtaining IP address).

I brought the SPA home, and it (mis)behaves the same in my house. I was hoping that it might be the modem, or the moisture in the air

So, I guess, it's dead... Bummer

it happens at times . first check if your modem is working then try to reconfigure the 3102 . then disable provisioning and see
usually it works .

I'm sorry .. my bad. I read right over the "from the cable modem" part.
