Question Unable to "forward" to a "IP direct dial" address?

Hello,

I have configured my SPA3000 ATA device to allow "IP direct dialing". The phone rings (and connection is made) if I use any SIP phone to dial my ATA directly using my SIP URL address: 16044840574@etwebhosting.myvnc.com

The problem is that I am not able to use my IPKall number. I have it set to:

SIP Phone Number: 16044840574
SIP Proxy: etwebhosting.myvnc.com

But when I dial my 3602266492 IPKall number, it just gives a busy signal. The phone does not ring, and the ATA does not receive the call.

Any ideas what is wrong?

It is strange, because I am able to call my ATA directly with the SIP URL... so there must be something wrong with the forwarding by IPKall?

Let me know if you have any ideas...

This sounds like the famous DNS SRV record problem described here (bottom of page, last 'update' note): SIP Broker Wiki : Inbound Calls Directly to your LinkSys or Sipura

One way around this might be to follow the suggested trick there and create a Sip Broker alias that forwards to your account, and point IPKall to the Sip Broker alias. Hope that works.
