Default IPKALL with voipbuster instead of FWD?

I have voipbuster and was wondering if I we could forward to the line which I have configured for voipbuster. Any ideas as to how?

thanks

If you can learn your voicebuster URI (and voicebuster permits inbound URI calling) you can point your IPKall number there. The information before the @ sign goes in the first box and the information after the @ sign goes in the second box.

Since the voicebuster URI would never ordinarily be presented on your own subscriber line, how would you propose sniffing it with Ethereal?

I would either ask voicebuster Customer Service or Google for the answer. I just Googled for "voipbuster uri" and found uri="sip:00442087359713@sip.voipbuster.com". Since I am not their customer I have no way of confirming if this is good information, but it only took 15 seconds to turn it up. It's amazing what a little bit of searching can accomplish.

I dont think contacting their customer service will work. here is one of their FAQ:

I want to configure my own IAX/SIP device for calling with VoipBuster, is that possible?
It is possible to configure a IAX/SIP device for VoipBuster, however we do not support SIP/IAX questions.

But from the above mentioned uri format - i can only guess what those numbers are. They probably are the registered phone number that you have in your account with voipbuster. I will give that a try and post later if its successful.

thanks anyway for the help guys.

This won't work with IPKall, even if you have the URI, because the input field on IPKall only permits 15 characters.
Unless there exists some SIP bouncer, that you could point the IPKall to a SIP bouncer/forwarder/tunnel site, and that service will forward to the long URI of voipbuster.
Any volunteer developers out there who want to do it
I could try, but my time is tight :?
First, it must be confirmed that the sniffed URI, when called from a SIP provider (like FWD), will actually ring your SIP client. If it works, then it's a green light to develop something

Cheers,
-Karl

Yes , your idea of a SIP Bouncer is quite simple. All you need is an FWD account pointed at the URI you want to go to. Use the Advanced Features in FWD, and set up forwarding with the format sip:123456@myprovider.com. You may then go to IPkall and point your IPkall number to that FWD account. It will take the SIP forward from FWD.

BTW I have also done this for tempremental DIDs with certain SIP server configurations that sometimes disconnect after a few minutes . Every time I have tried it, the calls stop cutting off! I have no explanation as to why, but it works.

As for Mberlants comment about the clients sip URI not being visible from etherreal, that is not the case. It does appear as FROM, with any SIP registration
