Default Dials okay, but no ring tones

Yet another issue... Not sure if this is specific to my setup or to iConnectHere.

For the most part, I am able to make and receive calls. I sometimes have trouble getting a dialtone immediately (especially after I have just made a call and hung up), but I'm slowly learning to live with that. What I CAN'T deal with is when I make a call but get no ring tones. I know that the phone is ringing on the other end because I can call my land line/cell phone and hear them ring just fine. When I answer my own call, I can hear my voice. But on the outgoing ICH line, I don't hear any ringing, nor to I hear any busy signals (when the other end is busy).

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks!

Default RE: Dials okay, but no ring tones

Just a follow-up. I thought I had figured out that the problem was related to my attempt to make a dial plan string to prefix my area code when dialing only 7 digits. When I took that part of the string out, I seemed to get ring tones. Adding it back in prevented the ring tones.

Well, after a power outage tonight, I am again getting no ring tones AND the dial plan string is back to the default value as suggested by ICH. So, I don't know how to fix it. It seems to me like it has something to do with the loudness of the ring tones. When the other party answers the call, the first 1/10th of a second of sound is cut off, almost like when using a speakerphone. After that, the conversation is fine. It's like the SPA-1001 shuts down until it gets a loud enough sound. Could this be related to the echo suppression problem that others are having? Or is there someway to boost the signal strength?

Default No ring tones is SOLVED! (I think.)

(Note that this is a cross post from the Sipura forum. Sorry.)

So after surfing through more posts, I decided to try various solutions to OTHER problems to see if they would fix MY problem. I think I fixed it!

I went to the "Line 1" tab and changed the "DTMF Tx Method" (near the bottom of the page) from "Auto" to "INFO". So far I have gotten ring tones every time, even after changing the dial plan string back to incorporate the prefixing of my area code for 7-digit numbers. I can dial local numbers with or without the area code and I get ring tones now.

I'm not really sure what the "DTMF Tx Method" of "INFO" means, but as it seems to be working right now, I'll keep it that way until I find that it stops working or I need to change it for some other reason.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Default RE: No ring tones is SOLVED! NOT!!!

I hate it when I'm wrong. :x

Apparently, when I set DTMP Tx Method to INFO, ICH's voice mail system doesn't recognize button presses, so I can't get my voice mail! Changing it back to "Auto" fixes that problem, but now I'm back to square one with the other problem.

Try setting the DTMF method to AVT.

I tried that one (and all other settings for DTMF Tx Method) but the only one that gave me good results re: the ring tones was "INFO". But that doesn't work for ICH voice mail, so I had to set it back to Auto. Now, of course, I'm getting the same 'no ring tones' problem.

I'm going to try a full reset of the SPA and enter all ICH info from scratch to see if that changes anything. Maybe I inadvertently changed a setting that is causing this issue.
