I updated my HT-488 after just getting it the other day with the OLD firmware it would seize the pstn line but you couldnt dial out to any one with the new firmware it will sieze the line for about 1/10 of a second and thats all so you cant dial out of the fxo.

There is a new firmware 1.0.3.18 for the HT-488 available at: www.grandstream.com/BETATEST/HT488_496_386 Have anyone tried to upgrade to this version yet? Does it fix the many problems with the FXO?

The symptoms when the upgrade fails is that the configuration page cannot be reached and the access from the phone does not work... that is, the unit is useless. Can you get any response if you plug a regular phone into the HT. Keying *** should give you a voice prompt. At the prompt, keying "01" should then tell you the mode. If the mode is "Static IP mode" then you will probably need to change it by typing "9" to "DHCP Mode". You can get the manual from the Grandstream site (though it is difficult to get one as old as the firmware). |

Thanks for the suggestion. I can use the keypad. I have reset the phone to factory defaults and typed in the setting to use TFTP server 168.75.215.190 After doing that I still cannot access the web configuration page. Seems like my next step will be to send in my adapter for repairs (sigh. I only got to use it for 2 days and it never worked that well anyway)

The HT386 only has WAN so you must access from a computer on the same WAN. Check that WAN access is allowed. Since it did work I suspect that is OK but check it anyway. I have to say that I am not keen on the upgrade methods for these devices (not just Grandstream). Did your device actually upgrade?

download the tftp server version from http://www.weird-solutions.com/ copy in the root the file of the firmware reboot the adapter Daniele

Thanks for the suggestion! Anyhow; after waiting a week not doing anything, my web configuration page magically seems to be working once again. I reconfigured it but the adapter is still not working. The phone has no dial tone either. I downloaded the weird solutions TFTP client (seems to be the best one out of all the clients I have tried). I am not quite sure how to get this to work though. From what I gather, I set my phone to have a static IP address (then I can set it to whatever I want on my LAN Exp: 192.168.000.*** [*** = whatever I want]. Then I set the TFTP server to that same address and set it to upload, then upload boot.bin (or whatever file I am supposed to (? - ht_386.bin ?)). Well... this is what I have been doing and when I do it I get an error message saying "Error: No Response From Server." I think (from past TFTP clients I have been using) that my port 69 is being blocked. I have no idea if this is the case or how to unblock it. I have disabled firewall and that seems to not help at all
