Default HT503 - Problem updating firmware

Hi,

I've been trying for a while now to get the HT503 to update, but nothing seems to work, I tried the grandstream tftp server, the http server, and recently I installed a tft server on my network, put the latest firmware on I, nothing. I rebooted several times, the wan light always blinks twice and than lights up.

The webinterface reports:
Software Version: Program-- 1.0.0.5 Bootloader-- 1.0.0.7 Core-- 1.0.0.14 Base-- 1.0.0.5

that means I'm still on 1.0.0.5, right?

Is there any way to update the firmware manually?

Maybe someone had similar troubles, or I'm just not seeing something, any help is apreciated.
Thanks

I have worked a lot with the HT-502 and HT-503

Check out items like:

Firmware Upgrade and Provisioning: Upgrade Via TFTP HTTP HTTPS
Firmware Server Path:

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Always Check for New Firmware at Boot up
Check New Firmware only when F/W pre/suffix changes
Always Skip the Firmware Check

If it does start to download from Grandstream, be prepared to wait around 15 minutes or more for it to finish.

What ever you do, DON'T TOUCH IT WHILE IT IS DOWNLOADING......

If you think it is done.....Wait another 5 minutes.

If it doesn't download, you can use the Syslog feature of the HT-503 and see what it is or isn't doing.

Let me know how it works out.

Thanks for the info. I finally did the firmware update. It was due to connection problems, I connected the ht503 directly to the cable modem and it found the update and finished it. The weird thing is that when I connect the ht503 to my router through the wan port that it doesn't seem to connect, not even to the network. Is there any special option, the manual doesn't seem to say so. Thanks again for your help.

OK Well I am glad to hear that it is finally working for you.

I do believe it is connecting to your network or else you would not be able to access the web browser in it.

Make sure it is set to DHCP and not Static.

I would look more towards the router. It may be blocking the TFTP Protocol.

There isn't any special option I know of except, once again, to be sure to use DHCP in the HT503.

I got it working, kind of, it registers to the asterisk server, and works on internal calls, external calls drop... just configured a syslog server will study the logs to find out whats going on. Your probably right on the thing with the updates, the router might block tftp traffic, since there aren't that many updates i just let it be...
