Exclamation HT 503 - *00 problem and FXO always busy

first day lessons with a HT 503 connected to a POTS PSTN (FXO port) and a non-VoIP phone (FXS port)
[plus Asterisk server on WAN as SIP server, FXS and FXO each have their own SIP UserID]:

a. firmware updated using the Grandstream TFTP server to 1.0.0.15

b. _all_ configuration defaults

result:

a. *00 dialed at the FXS port would flash the LINE for a very brief instant and instead of PSTN dial tone would get a busy signal.

b. dialing the FXO port from the WAN would behave the same as above.

two configuration changes are needed so the FXO port no longer behaves like it is broken in some way:

a. FXO PORT
Dial Plan: {[x*]+} (Default is {x+})

b. FXO PORT -> FXO Termination
Enable Current Disconnect: No (Default is Yes)

the * key must be permissible for the *00 feature to work!
POTS does not use current disconnect.

-----
Hope this helps!

You need configure FXO port.
If you get busy signal that is becouse of signal are badly understand, you need set it to your country settings.

a) this dial plan allow sending * in dialing number !

Enable Current Disconnect: No (Default is Yes)

that's why you need set correct dial tone in first place. Otherwise device will not undestand sugnal from POTS.

As you can see in my original message, I *did* configure the FXO port appropriately.

The *00 feature dialed on the FXS attached phone did not and does not work unless '*' is added to the FXO dialplan. I don't know why - I just know this is repeatable and makes it work.

Connected to my existing POTS line, Current Disconnect is not appropriate. The FXO is -not- connected to a PBX, rather, it is connected to a regular old analog POTS line in my house. It was necessary to disable Current Disconnect for the FXO port to behave properly.
