I think you have to be in DHCP mode with the computer.
If you computer has a fixed public IP, you'll not be able to access the web interface.
So,
START -> SETTINGS -> NETWORK CONNECTIONS -> RIGHT-CLICK ON YOUR CONNECTION -> PROPERTIES -> CLICK ON TCP/IP -> PROPERTIES -> CHECK THE TWO UPPER OPTIONS (OBTAIN IP, DNS AUTOMATICALY) -> EXIT ALL THESE WITH OK, OK, ...
Now you should be able to access 192.168.2.1 and enter default password " admin "
To be sure that you are in DHCP mode and the adapter gives you an IP,
START -> RUN -> TYPE "CMD" -> TYPE "IPCONFIG"
If you see IP ADDRESS 192.168.2.2 everything is ok.
Good luck.

Did you test to see if you get an IP from the adapter ? If not, the PC does not see the adapter and viceversa.
START -> RUN -> TYPE "CMD" -> TYPE "IPCONFIG"
If you have 192.168.2.2 as your computer IP, should be ok.
But, do you have "CLIENT FOR MICROSOFT NETWORKS" and "FILE AND PRINTER SHARING" enabled ? I'm not sure but that can make a difference.
In any case, check again if you have an IP from the adapter when connecting them. That is important.

Sorry Vanderbog still no joy, when I start run cmd ipconfig computer ip 192.168.2.2 ethernet gateway 192.168.2.1 Client m/s n/works & file & print sharing both enabled. By the way if I run the cmd test ipconfig with lan & wan disconnected the result says no ip info just media disconnected, so obviously comp is seeing gateway .Once again thanks for your help so far....... Default 486 Config

Try connecting the 486 to your PC via the LAN port and access the device via the deafult IP 192.168.2.1.

Hi DesEarl,

I too have a similar problem. Were you able to fix it? Please let me know who you did it.

I cannot access the page http://192.168.2.1. But ipconfig shows that the HT is linked. But Ping 192.168.2.2 does not detect. But when fixed to my office computer Ping 192.168.2.2 gives a result but still does not let me enter http://192.168.2.1. Please help if you have sorted out the problem.

Regards,

Pujitha

ping 192.158.2.2 is pinging your computer not the HT. However, it seems that the computer has got DHCP from the HT OK. There seem to be two things to consider

1. Something needs to be done to set up the XP correctly. I cannot help with that at all.

2. Try resetting the HT to factory defaults (at your own risk!). Instructions are in the manual. Then carefully follow the setup instructions.

This is the oldest manual I can find
http://www.grandstream.com.cn/en/use...UserManual.pdf

still not as old as your firmware.

Here is the Solution
Your are Doing wrong.
You are trying to type 192.168.2.1... or so direct to web page
(Your pc and Ht-486 are in same line of Router)
Now 1 IMP point to access the web page (They Disable Dhcp configuration via pc)
It is only possible via theirs Lan port
so If you have Broadband Router or Broadband connection
1st - Connect Your Ht-486 to Router or direct cable(Wan Port)
2nd- use Extra Ethernet cable to connect (Ht-486 Lan port)to connect your pc lan adapter(network card)
Now You can here the Ip address of Your HT-486 by IVR option

Pick up the Handset and dial *** (3 times) and then 02 (Zero two)
it said Ip address: 192.168.xx.xx.xx

Now as Your pc is connected to Lan port of Ht-486
Type that address in Browser htpp://192.168.xxx.xxx

It will prompt you for password.
after that it need Advace configuration Password too

If you know the password just try that
Otherwise i can give you the Default password

or mail langoo2006@yahoo.com
