Question With 486 lose Internet and can't VOIP Connect

When I connect my 486 VOIP box between my Motorola Surfboard SB5100 and my Microsoft Router (MN-510) I lose internet out of my LAN port to my computer from the MN-510. I can't get this to work at all with my VOIP provider...Callcentric. When I have it connected, I have green LEDs on both LAN and WAN ports of my 486. Why, when I put this between my routers, do I lose internet?

I have also eliminated the MN-510 and have the ethernet cable going to my computer and this doesn't work either (VOIP service or Internet). Set up this way, the only thing I can do is address the 486 and configure it. I did all the settings that Callcentric recommends and it didn't work. Any help appreciated. I checked all ethernet cables and they all worked.

Thanks!

Default Re: With 486 lose Internet and can't VOIP Connect

if you use your 486 betwen a modem and arouter as NAT you will have problems because the device isn't able to mangate a big internet traffic.

bye

Unhappy Re: With 486 lose Internet and can't VOIP Connect

I fixed the problem...it was something stupid. Both my 486 and Microsoft MN-510 were using the default IP address 192.168.2.1. I changed the 486 to something else and my problem was fixed.
