Default 2 Service Lines?

Does the Handytone 486 come with 2 Service Lines (capable of being used with 2 different service providers)?

In the HandyTone Comparison Chart http://www.grandstream.com/y-htseries.htm
it is noted that the 486 has one FXS port. The Sipura SPA3000 also has one FXS port, but ALL Sipura's have 2-Service Line capabilities! So there is no direct relationship betwee FXS and Service Line. Does the HandyTone 486 have a capability for using two service providers, Service Lines???

Voxilla, when's the ETA for your ATA Comparison Table? You said you were working on it last week.

HT486 only allows for one service provider.

Not all Sipura devices have 2-line capability. The SPA1000 only allowed for one service provider. The SPA1001 also only allowed for one service provider in its early iterations, though upgrading the firmware to the latest release solves that.

The SPA3000 is a special case because while it technically has the ability to register with two service providers, one of those service providers MUST be dedicated to the VoIP to PSTN function (i.e. you can't receive calls to your FXS port on that provider). The SPA3000 does support more than one outgoing-only service (using the "Gateway" service providers).

Do you know of any other ATA made by ANY company that "restricts" in-coming calls on a Service Line, besides the 3000 model? What would have been the rationale of the SPA3000 developers for restricting a Service Line in such a way?

The SPA3000 is not a typical ATA. It is designed primarily to be a VoIP/PSTN bridge device. As such, it makes sense to dedicate a "Service Line" to that function.
