Default Some jacks in house dont work, but they used to

I have TWC digital phone. I did have Vonage, but TWC gave me a deal I couldn't refuse...they added digital phone to my existing package for an additional $10 for a year. Anyway...I am in a 3 story house, and the phone adapter is connected to a jack, and all the jacks in my house worked fine for about 2 years. All of the sudden, 2 jacks on the same floor do not work. They are dead. They are both coming from the outside from the original box on 2 separate wires(one in the front of the house, and the other in the rear - 2 different wires coming into the house in 2 separate holes. Upstairs(where the modem is) works, and the basement has another 2 wires coming in and those jacks work. Why would 2 jacks all of the sudden after working for so long just stop working?
Thanks
