| hi we r using audiocodec 729 which consume 31.2kbps nominal bandwidth. and we have taken net connection. uploading speed is 849kbps & downloading speed is 469kbps. we r browsing only one site and that one not consuming bandwidth. voice quality is good when 5-6 agents r talking but when we increase the agents voice is fluctuatting means cracking. can anybody tell me where is the problem. we r using 1 ip for voice and other one for data |

| I would be very surprised if your upload bw is twice that of your download bw. Are you sure your upload bw isn't the 469 Kbps? If you have 5 or more agents using VoIP at same time, I expect you need a bigger data pipe.

| Are your two IPs sharing the same pipe? Why is your version of G729 using four times the bandwidth of normal G729? |

| I have been seeing conflicting reports on just how much bw g.729(a) requires, ranging from 8Kbps to 40 Kbps. In part, I understand that the extra bw is in part due to Ethernet "overhead" to handle the codec. And then there is the issue of are we only only considering Upload, download, or both? http://www.newport-networks.com/whit...andwidth3.html http://wiki.snom.com/Bandwidth_requirements_and_QoS http://www.computerweekly.com/Articl...ndamentals.htm http://www.voip-calculator.com/bandwidth.html I think I would would generally plan for "worst case scenario" for bw requirements.
