Default Please a SS7 SIP VOIP GATEWAY

Hi Guys,

I have experience with VocalTec producsts with their Essentra CX product which is a converter from SS7 to SIP and makes class 4 routing, and is also a MGC (Media Gateway Controller) to controll Audiocodes E1 gateways.

Now that I am interested to purchase this kind of device I got an offer also from ACULAB, GROOMERII. And price is a lot lower.

My question would be for someone having experience or knoledge on this companies, to know which is better, or if one good enough to perform this convertion and class 4 routing, maintaining also highest quality.

Which solution do you advice, in this case?

Thanks in advance

I have to say I've never even heard of Groomerii. Acculab are obviously well known in the field. There are of course other providers a colleague of mine has used Squire Technologies in a previous job and found them to be good, also there are people like Audiocodes who are also known to deliver (although you would also need a seperate Media Gateway controller for their Mediant Gateways).

It is possible to do the conversion and the class 4 routing on a single box depending on the supplier. My best advise is don't make the decision based on price alone but get involved speaking to the companies, ask to know where they have deployed the solution before - if they have carrier grade customers using it etc. Also ask if you can see demos of interfaces etc.

I think that the most important things when choosing such product is reliability, scalability and inter-operability. (the 3 Xabilities...)
If you have good experience with VocalTec I would choose them rather then trying the cheap option.
VocalTec has been in the VoIP industry forever, in fact if I'm not mistaken, I think they have even invented it.
But that depends on your budget and decisions.
Is this the product they offered you?
