| Dear VoIP Experts, Residing in San Jose, CA - ( I have cable internet with wireless installed) I would like to downgrade my landline to the barebones and install a hybrid VoIP solution. With either the Dual Phone or an ATA device, can I make my landline have features like call forwarding? Ideally, people could still call my normal house phone number, and it would somehow forward to my VoIP line. I'd like to be able to set call forwarding or Do Not Disturb through a browser or software program that would work if callers call my normal landline number. Please let me know if this is possible or if I would need to just advertise my new VoIP number to benefit from the rich reatures. Thx |

| Well, ideally, I'd like to keep my traditional landline for backup, instead of just going purely VoIP. Although I am open to that if that ends up being the best way. Is there a way to supercharge my existing landline with a VoIP piece of hardware, and then be able to use a free service like Skype or something that charges for certain types of calls, but allows some free usage? I do not make a lot of calls. I am mainly interested in VoIP for the features which would cost $40/Mo plus taxes via traditional landline. Even with that, you do not have the management flexibility that VoIP offers. I am open to recommendations on the most cost effective way to have a feature rich solution that offers great sound quality, not worrying about international calling rates. |

| I guess its not so much the serivce but more the hardware you use to implement this. At a basic level, a Sipura SPA3102 will let you bridge your POTS line with a VoIP service. Taking it to another level, you could use the SPA3102 in tandem with an Asterisk server to give you things like IVRs, Voicemail to email etc etc...
