| I know this sounds crazy, but you never know. I know would need power, and internet access. Well i figure there must be a way to use a cell phone, or a pda as a modem for internet access. I am not sure if there is a way to connect this to the vonage, lingo, or packet8 box, but maybe. I would guess you would need a laptop, but not really sure about that. To me this is a great challange. Maybe not practical, but i am hoping possible. The major reason is this. With the voip companies, if you answer your voip landline, there is no charge. but if you fwd the call to an out of the country cell phone you get charged long distance. Like in brazil the incoming calls are free. So i would love to be able to keep the voip box with me, so i can save. So is there someone out there who is creative, and can think out of the box. help us all. |

| There are many solution out there already, You can get SkyPE client for Windows Mobile/PocketPC Phones (possibly Symbian as well). There are SIP clients available also. You need GPRS connectivity, and some phones at the moment don't seem to have enough processing power to really do VoIP at the moment. I haven't used any of these softwares myself, so can't say how well they work. You could connect your laptop to the internet using a GPRS internet connection, in which case, if you have a decent GPRS connection, you could use somethign like X-lite to make/receive VoIP calls. Keep in mind you need to pay for the GPRS connection, on a per KB or MB basis, and thats not that cheap either. Further, don't really know what you mean by "out of the country" forwarding, but using a SPA3000 for instance, you can forward your VoIP calls to a local phone (cellphone or regular pots) for the cost of a local call using your PSTN line.(for instance, if you box is in Mexico, you can forward VoIP calls to a Mexican phone) |
