Default Hi, I am a newbie and have some questions...

Hi there.
I am a newbie in VoIP. I think my first post with the questions I have in mind is in the right place. If not, please show the threads where similar questions were already discussed.

Qustion 1.
Can I use several VoIP providers with different numbers simultaneously? Or I should change manually adapter's settings through web interface every time I want to call from different number? Or is there any program that can do that for me, like in Skype - you just change subscriber's login/pass - that's it.

Qustion 2.
Is it possible to encipher/encrypt the data trasmitted through my adapter somehow?

The reason I am asking these question is that I work with some universities abroad and we usually speak about innovations in software-development field, so I don't want to be heard by someone else, moreover I don't want my thoughts to be learned by someone else. Software development doesn't like openness, unless it is GNU.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am not quite sure how to answer question 1, but with regard to question #2, if you can find a sip device (hardphone, softphone such as SNOM, Eyebeam, Minisip for Linux) that supports TLS and your provider also supports TLS, then you can utilize a secure line and encrypting/decrypting capabilities offered by the TLS technology. Again, your device must be TLS enabled to use this method as well. If there is another method other than TLS that can perform in this capacity, I am not aware of it.

Hi,
I don't know why I said this because I am aware of SRTP which is supported by a few devices, one device that I can think of at the moment is the Sipura ATA, however, I have only used TLS and only briefly.
