Default Gizmo Project

Are there any threads discussing this new competition to Skype?

I read an article about this new program, which said something about it being SIP compatible?
It said something like, when you sign up, they give you a ID for PC to PC calls and a SIP number? Does this mean that anybody who has voip, regardless of the provider, will be able to dial a gizmo user from their phone or viceversa?

I just wonder what Phoneboy, being that he dislikes Skype so much because of it being a closed program (I read his blogs once in a while), will have to say about this program.

I don't seem much talk about it on this board. But there is a lot of talk about this software (including it's limits) on the "BroadBandReports.com" VoIP forum.

I've blogged a bit about Gizmo Project (see http://blog.phoneboy.com/index.php?itemid=414 and http://blog.phoneboy.com/index.php?itemid=413), but mostly just to respond to what others have said about it in comparison to other things.

Being as I spend most of my time in Linux, I haven't had a chance to actually try Gizmo Project. I'll have to load it up on one of my Windows boxes and see how good it is.

Gizmo is just another SIP client (not new technology or new idea) and this SIP client currently works only in Sipphone.com network (you can see even your 1-747-xxxyyyy sipphone number using network sniffer). If so, pulver.Communicator looks better - at least, you can use it with any SIP provider, and to connect to ICQ/Yahoo/AIM/MSN/SkyPe networks. So, when Gizmo Project (sipphone.com) says that "SkyPe ia bad, Gizmo is good", it's , IMHO, deception. Again - Gizmo project is another SIP client that works only in Sipphone network.
