I think what will happen is you can choose a PSTN number where, and when you need it and still use a free service like FWD.
You might use FWD for most calls, then when you need to make an oldschool call, you'll hit a code using FWD your call will be put on the phone network.
This type stuff is possible now, but because of the cost of PSTN trunking, you dont see it much. Once that cost comes down more and more cool stuff like this will happen.
Jeff might not be happy about it though.
