Default Custom Number

Is there a company that lets you pick your own personalized number? not bring your existing number, but create your own number.
For example:
if you wanted your number to be like 954-ANYNAME or 800-ANYNAME
(replacing the letter with their respective number)
for easy to remember numbers.

thanks,

The 800 number would be easier. I haven't run across a VoIP carrier that displays that they'll let you bring your own vanity toll-free number -- but you have much higher chances of finding this than a carrier that let's you choose a vanity normal DID. It's a more standard request.

The only way I know of to get a vanity normal DID for VoIP (or on a cell phone) is to get a normal POTS line installed, paying the phone company to provide the vanity number. And then initiating a port request for that number after it's up and running. It's even hard to find a Verizon rep that knows that Verizon *does* provide this service, so I don't know how far you'll get. It took me 5 calls to customer service "supervisors" before I found someone that even understood what I wanted, and then they had to call me back a week later once they've found someone that knew how to order it.

Obviously this won't help you much if you aren't living in the States and don't have the ability to have a landline temporarilly installed.
