Default Cost of "free minutes": Betamax

I have some questions regarding Betamax voip services:

• Are you required to make a purchase to get those “free” minutes? (Someone please put an end to the endless false claims in this industry.)

• Do they cut you off every 90 or 120 days to force another purchase? *
• What is the minimum purchase?
• Will I have the reported payment option problems in the US?

One service stated “300 free minutes per week”, which I think will cover all my calls. What is the real cost? Is there a cheaper service for calling (essentially 100% within the US currently)? *

Thumbs up Re: Cost of "free minutes": Betamax

Dear Friend,

I have tried to answer your questions...

Are you required to make a purchase to get those “free” minutes? (Someone please put an end to the endless false claims in this industry.)

YES, You must require activated account by purchasing credits to get those so called 'FREE' minutes

Do they cut you off every 90 or 120 days to force another purchase? *

Usually they Don't Do that. It works smoothly as you use under fair user policy.

• What is the minimum purchase?

You can purchase Min. 5 Euro Credit but it's only by top-up facility from the Reseller. Voucher is not available under this circumstances.

• Will I have the reported payment option problems in the US?

As for as my knowledge, They Don't have this option in the US.

Dear Friend, While they are providing this 'FREE Minutes', are you still asking for cheaper service?...Amazing !. Remember..FREE IS ALWAYS Costly.

Free is always costly? ???

Free should be free. You describe a one-time fee of 4-Euros for several hundred minutes per week (300?). That would be fair and competitive, so there is no need to make false statements and obscure the details.

Usually they don't limit the service to 90 or 120 days? ??? Just state the policy. Do they or don't they, and what determines which way? If someone goes over the limit, they could just charge from the 4-Euros and then require another 4-Euro "re-start" at the end. There will be some who go way over and hog the service and others who accidentally go a few minutes over. Why shouldn't they draw the line, state the terms, and charge fairly and consistently?

"...They Don't have this option in the US..."
What option? I asked about a well known problem, not an option. Why not "verify" credit cards to prevent fraud? Why are problems being engineered for people trying to purchase a service? Is it a black market? Is this a scam to get money for bankers who handle the transactions?

Why not allow regular international currencies for a service that is used world wide?

What is a top-up facility, and how to get started in the first place (without looking for some kind of pimp)?
