Connecting outside with asterisk

Hi all, using asterisk with fedora 9

So, i've set up asterisk with sip within my office. However, my next project is to connect to the outside world.

On our computers, we have softphones. The raw asterisk server does has:
OpenVox A400P 4x FXS FXO 3.3V/5.0V PCI Card, and i believe that I have it correctly configured.
Ztcfg shows that 2 Fxo and 2 FXS channels are there. I've put a phoneline into the FXS and I have a regular analogue phone pluged into the FXO part. However, there is no dial tone on the phone.

1. How can i get the softphone to be able to call outside phone numbers?
2. How can i get a dialtone on the analogue phone?
