when using FWD, trying to call anywith starting with an asterisk like *1800 555 1212 gives my the busy signal as soon as the second digit is pressed. this happens with xlite and with a spa3000 i have in use.

Default RE: Can

Sounds like a dial plan issue to me. Can you post your dial plan?

Default dial plan

here's the spa300 PSTN dial plan:

(*xx|[3469]11|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.)

xlite doesnt have a dial plan and also does not work with anything starting with an *

Default RE: dial plan

Looks like a default dial plan. No wonder it won't work. If you're just using it with FWD, something like this will work fine:

(xxx.|*xx.|**xx.)

If you're using it with something else as well, you might need to modify it a bit.

The correct dial string for FWD with a Sipura ATA device is below. I got it directly from FWD support page and allows me to dial any number with asterisks in front, etc. I had the same problem until I used this dial string.

(*x.|**x.|*xx|[3469]11|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxx|xxxxxxxxxxxx.)

That may be the "official" FWD recommendation, but there are many more useful things you can do with a Dial Plan for FWD!

As just one example, simply adding the "Dial Plan" entry below (separated by any other dial plan entries by a "|" character), will let you dial any FWD numbers (i.e. any combinations of digits and the "*" key), as long as you press the "#" key when you are done dialing. And as an added bonus, the phone starts "ringing" as soon as you press "#" (i.e. no need to wait for a timeout).

[x*]. <#:> S0

Default RE: Re: RE: dial plan

For the record, [x*]. will do the same thing. This is because the # key, when pressed at any point except as the very first dialed key, will be naturally handled by the SPA exactly as <#:>S0 in a Dial Plan.
