Default Best deal on incoming calls for ported number?

I have a phone number I want to use for incoming calls only, on line 2 of my SPA-3102.

Can anyone recommend any good deals on plans that offer unlimited incoming calls? The provider would have to allow me to port my existing phone number as a DID number. Thanks

The SPA3102 only has a single line for incoming calls where you wish to talk to the caller from the handset attached to the SPA3102. The other line (PSTN Line) is for bridging a call with an attached pstn (pots) line. To receive incoming calls you need to be "registered" with your provider. For making outgoing calls, often you do not need to register with the provider and you can setup an outgoing provider as a "gateway" on the SPA3102 Line 1.

There are some pay-as-you-go providers that will port your number to one of their DID products. Looking at their web pages, CallCentric offers unlimited incoming for $5.95/month, Future-Nine offers unlimited incoming for $5/month. They both charge a $25 fee for the port. They are both good companies.

Thanks for the info. So would there be a better device for doing what I want to do - one that has 2 separate lines for incoming calls? Or would it just be a matter of configuring the SPA3102 correctly? My situation is:

- One phone number for incoming and outgoing calls with one provider.
- Another number for incoming calls only with a separate provider.

Thank you

The SPA3102 will not do what you wish, at least with a single adapter. I would get a Linksys PAP2T or SPA2102. If they were the same price I would get the 2102. They are similiar. The 2102 has a router if you wish to use it. They both have two separate voip lines. With the adapter you need to use two separate analog phone sets or a two-line analog phone.

The SPA3102 is useful for bridging pstn to voip calls or vice versa and also using it for the pstn line. It also has the ability to have up to four outgoing only providers in addition to the single input/output line.

Some voip providers sell the adapters. The larger ones usually lock the adapter so you can not use it with another provider. You want to be sure to get an unlocked adapter usually one of the -NA models.
