Default NEW UNIDEN PHONE

This is all I have to say about UNIDEN phones based on my personal experience:

* They are probably the best cordless phones there are!

I have been using a TRU8865-2 together with a SIPURA SPA-2000 on Broadvoice, and I could not be happier!! (I wish I could say the same about the SIPURA SPA-841 which I still not able to use with a particular number in Canada!)

So, in a few words, I am sure that Uniden's new IP phone phone will be very reliable, and will sell extremely well! (Where can I buy shares on UNIDEN?)

Regards from sunny Miami!

RR

Hopefully Uniden will take a look @ their worldwide offices and now consider working as a global operating unit.

I purchased a cordless phone in the USA, took it to NZ and it did not work from brand new (yes correct voltage etc)

Uniden in NZ refused to provide any support or warranty citing they did not have a world wide arrangement.

Since then I have not purchased ANY Uniden equipment and encouraged others not to. That decision cost Uniden. Also they claimed to have a "secure" wireless phone - I gave it to a PI company I knew who do eavesdropping countermeasures and they cracked it in 2 hours. Hopefully models are since better.

Other manufacturers seem to have such lapses in global judgement from time to time - Motorola tried the same thing on re warranty once by saying they would not "unlock" the cellphone so it would work in another country but then rescinded after encouragement and threat of legal action - smart.

Sony Ericsson used to do global warranties on cell phones then one model I purchased announced they would not.

Hey folks - we live with airplanes, the net and global corporations - wake up !

There isn't too much about VOIP security right now but it is a big issue - carrier grade VOIP intercept products are now appearing and available so those who want to protect theeir privacy and trade secrets need to consider such things.

Shayne's story reminded me of a funny thing that happened to me once. I worked as a consultant for a while doing a global email roll-out for a company. The company wanted to save $$ so they purchased all the monitors for their computer equipment here in the US and shipped them to Australia for use. None of the monitors worked!!

It turns out that the Earth's magnetic field is reversed in the southern hemisphere. The monitors sold in the USA all assume one polarity and the ones for the southern hemisphere have another. I never had any idea such a thing mattered

I have a Uniden 5.8GHz phone and I like it better than the V-Tech it replaced. The V-Tech was a 2.4GHz phone and interfered with my WAP. The 5.8GHz phone is great but it has a MUCH MUCH shorter range than the 2.4GHz phone.

But I digress.

I am newbie in VOIP and I am looking for Gateway hardware I can set up to Manila,Philippines and intend to link to local PSTN so that my call will be local.
My understanding I need 2 unit one in my place here in Chicago and one in Philippines.
Is Sipura 3000 will work in this function?
Is Grandstream Handy tone 486 enough to be station in US and Sipura 3000 will be overseas.
Can any VOIP wisard out there can answer my question>
Thank You.
