VoIP Service Provider Comparison
We have formally launched our VoIP Service Provider comparison tool at Voxilla - Page not Found
The information available in this tool is gathered by the staff at voxilla.com as well as various volunteers. As providers are rapidly changing their service offerings, some data in here may be out of date. Please post any corrections in this thread.
Service Providers or end users of service providers can contact us or post here to be included in this tool. Note that we do not accept any paid listings.

RE: VoIP Service Provider Comparison
Absolutely the best VoIP comparison info available anywhere. Congratulations.
Corrections:
1. Broadvoice does not offer LNP.
Wish list:
1. Logos need to hyperlink to websites.
2. My hot button is support for international call forwarding. Most have it but, at last check, Vonage, QuantumVoice, SunRocket did not. Hard to believe.
3. List or link to international virtual numbers.

RE: VoIP Service Provider Comparison
I was under the impression that BroadVoice was starting to do LNP, at least from talking to some others.
Logos needing links, I think that's relatively easy to fix. I'll alert the developers.
We've added a field for International Call Forwarding. It will need to be populated for all the service providers.
It's not always possible to provide a link to the rate centers serviced by a company, including International ones.

Nice, that looks really useful.
My wishlist item woul d be to select various features and ask be able to ask which services do it. Like saying "I want IAX and 800 numbers who offers it?"

Sounds like an idea. Something else to add in the future.

I agree with daryll but that's a project for another day. Perhaps there could be a compromise and make the data available as an Excel file. I realize this is more of a biz decision than a technical one.

Re: VoIP Service Provider Comparison
Good, do you plan to have more 'projects', that is: non-US providers or to have a list of providers that cater to international market (offering call plan without US/Canada free minutes)?

RE: Re: VoIP Service Provider Comparison
It is not easy to figure out which providers support Call Forwarding to international numbers, nor which consider Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or Canada to be domestic for this purpose.
So, anyone with specific knowledge about a particular carrier is invited to please post that here.
Thank you.

RE: Re: VoIP Service Provider Comparison
Great idea! Geart Start!
Suggestions:
- add a standardized line for location of provider
- add a line for when first started offering VOIP
- add a line for proxys
- aad a box at bottom for "standard generic settings"
- add a line with a link back to the Voxilla forum
- add a line with an active link back to the provider instead of just listing the domain
- add a line for "ownershop/control" behind provider, eg ATTCV=SBC; BroadVoice=Convergent (and GlobalNAPS); Lingo=Primus (which would be reason for *me* to never use them); etc
Synopis is very subjective, suggest moving to bottom
BroadVoice specific suggestions/corrections:
BroadVoice currently lists "Simultaneous Ring (follow me)" as a premium service on their out-of-date web pages, but it's available with no charge regular features under the "web portal" and currently works (most of the time) without charge. As far as I can figure out there is no "sequential ring to / follow me" with BroadVoice. BV also has some sort of M$ interface but don't know anything about it as I avoid M$ client software. BV voicemail *is* available from the web portal, and optionally also can be emailed to you either as a one-line notice and/or as a .wav file. Not sure the difference with Conference Brdiging but BV allows three-way conferencing, treated as two seperate phone calls at whatever rate (or free) normally for each single call; also conferences can be left by the BV customer and the other two parties are left *active* if they want.
HTH,
- Don
