RE: VoicePulse Lures Others It's an interesting marketing ploy, and it is sure to win some customers, but $50 is not quite enough to make the statement, "it costs effectively zero to try us out", actually be true.
The idea of a competitive upgrade is to convince a customer to leave something behind for the product on offer. Unfortunately, $50 will not cover the disconnection fees and/or return shipping fees due to the old company (all of the companies mentioned as being eligible have disconnection fees) and the startup fees that VoicePulse charges.
So, while the concept is a first in the industry, it is likely only to attract people who are already dissatisfied with their present service and are resigned (or nearly resigned) to jump ship and look elsewhere. Of course, if VoicePulse gains the lion's share of "elsewhere", they will have won big.
