Default How about User Groups for SunRocket and SureVoice et al

I'm seriously looking for a replacement for BroadVoice if they don't improve soon. I've noticed at least two: Surevoice and SunRocket which have caught my interest due to posts here and at DSLreports.

I think it would be a good idea if Voxilla could add these to the User Groups.

TIA,
- Don

Default Have you checked your ISP SLA?

I had a very similar problem, and very soon I found that the ISP I am using had a router in the pass to the BV sip server (proxy.dca.broadvoice.com) with latencies of 1.2s and packet loss in excess of 5%.

It took me a lot of energy to escalate the problem, but after a week of pain, the problem is solved.

The quality of voice has a great dependency on the packet loss and latency of your connection to the sip server (which is the responsibility of your ISP).

Try performing a traceroute and a ping from your computer to the sip server and check the behaviour of your broadband line.

Default RE: Have you checked your ISP SLA?

Glad you found that as most folks don't think to look down the inside of the pipe to be sure it isn't foulded somplace.

Fortunately, I'm with DSLextreme on 6000/608 service and do not have the latency nor, much more importantly, any packet loss between me and broadvoice lax. Unfortunately, my problems have to do with the poor support BV gives its customers. I have yet to hear back on my latest couple emails relating to their strange handling of incoming calls forwarded from non-BV tollfree and/or RCF.

More than a month ago, I was personally promised by someone claiming to be one of the BV founders that all this would clear up soon. Well it hasn't. They seem to have switch programming problems that they are not addessing. [See my other posts in BV Users].

I don't have an axe to grind, I'd like to see BV heal itself. However, I'm getting tired of waiting and I'm simply being prudent and looking at my other options. More info and opinions always help.

Cheers,
- Don
