Only the Sipura 3000 has a PSTN/FXO connection. Only the Sipura 2100 has a built-in router. When are all these manufacturers going to get with the program and invest in a product line-up that meets the majority of needs! If I want to buy milk/dairy products/dairy substitutes in the supermarket, I can chose between whole milk, 1% milk, 2% milk, skim milk, buttermilk, yogurt (sweetened), yogurt (unsweetened), soymilk, chocolate milk, cream, butter, milk powder, fat-free cream cheese (that's a good one!), ice cream, cheese and a 100 others! If you want to play in the big leagues, you meet the needs of the consumer. That's where the big money is. All I see out there are niche products. If you're a company, you borrow the money or you sell stock and make the necessary investments in manufacturing equipment, etc. Does Sipura have patents underlying their product line-up? I can't believe a company like Cisco needs a Sipura or would be hindered in any way by whatever patents Sipura has on file! With Cisco's resources, they could be developing the products the public needs on their own. With this purchase, I fail to see where the consumer is placed in a better position. The purchase is in the interest of Cisco's bottom line, not to the advancement of VOIP. There is a saying: The more things change, the more they stay the same. Status quo. |
